The

Healing

  • If the skin appears irritated, there is too much fluid buildup, or the bandage is coming off, it’s okay to remove the bandage sooner rather than later. Some fluid is normal, do not puncture, pop, or rupture the “ink sack.”

  • If there is adhesive residue leftover on the skin, or the adhesive is not loosening enough with water, coconut oil and baby oil are helpful for removal.

  • For pain and swelling, you can take ibuprofen and apply a cold compress for a few minutes in the first 3 days.

  • Once the bandage is off, for itching, you may use a few sprays of Bactine 2-3x day. Do not itch, pick, or slap at your tattoo.

  • No pools, hot tubs, saunas, or soaking in water for 3-4 weeks.

  • Do not expose your tattoo to direct sunlight or tanning booths for at least three weeks.

  • After your tattoo is completely healed, use a 30 SPF (or greater) sunblock. Re-apply every few hours.

***It is normal to experience a little redness, tenderness, swelling, scabbing, bruising and/or peeling after you get a tattoo. However, If you notice any abnormal or persistent redness, swelling, or a greenish discharge and odor, please immediately contact your physician. Consult a healthcare professional at first sign of infection***
